'Hadrianus (Adrianus) Barlandus (Adriaan van Baarland), Baarland (Zuid-Beveland), 28 september 1486 - Leuven, 15 october 1538. Barlandus got his first training at Gent and studied afterwards in Leuven, where he was ordained as a priest. After a less succesfull year as an academic in Latin he provided in living by teaching young boys from wealthy descent to prepare them for a study at the university. The first edition was published at Antwerpen in 1526.
